A local business in the community of Bowness hosted its first ever birthday bash on Sep. 16, 2018. Bowest Motors, an automotive repair and maintenance shop, invited its customers and neighbours to enjoy live music, food truck eats and a classic car show to celebrate its 60th year of business.

The event was host to two local bands, Büsker Dü and Peter and the Wolves, and food truck Waffles and Chix. The classic car show incorporated cars owned by Calgary residents that took up the space of an entire city block, and there were around 200 residents of all ages who attended the event.

Les Tuck, Bowest’s owner, has been a resident of the community for 15 years and has owned the shop for three. He wanted to host an event to celebrate both his business and its success saying, “there’s not a lot of small businesses that have been around [for 60 years], so this is the first time that we’ve done this.”

“An event like this is a good opportunity to bring together people in the community,” says Tuck.

He hopes to make the Bowest Classic a yearly tradition to give back to the residents and customers in Bowness.
