Justin Wilkinson defies the odds for his love of bobsled
When you first spot Justin Wilkinson interacting with his teammates you may mistake him for one of the coaches.
But it's not just his extensive knowledge of the sport that sets him apart. Wilkinson doesn't look like a typical bobsledder, standing 5-7, and weighing roughly 195-pounds.

Calgary Festival of Strength unites various wightlifting sports
In a unique event, the 2nd annual Calgary Festival of Strength brought together athletes in powerlifting, Olympic-style weight lifting, kettleball sport and strongman competition.
Kaevon Khoozani, one of the festival's organizers, says that competitive strength events face two challenges in Calgary: small audience size and the cost of renting appropriate facilities. To overcome this, Khoozani says the idea behind the festival was to create an event that would involve several disciplines of weightlifting, with competition in each running concurrently throughout a single evening.

Gabrielle Waddell skates toward Sochi Olympics with gold on her mind
Gabrielle Waddell has a lot to prove.
With five months until this year's World Championships and less than a year until the Olympic selections, time is short and the stakes are high.
"They only send the best of the best," she says of the upcoming international competitions. "My goal is to be one of the three (Canadian) girls that are racing."

SAIT Trojans women's soccer team make playoffs for the first time in 10 years
After a decade of missing the playoffs, the SAIT women's soccer team has finally made the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) playoffs. A third-place finish for the Trojans in the south division wrapped up the season last Saturday.
Assistant coach Erin Schwab, who has coached with the team for the past four years after playing for SAIT for two years, knows this is a big accomplishment for the team.
