Long-running hobby night instills camaraderie
Walking into Cameron Farn's garage on a Tuesday night is like walking into something out of a sci-fi movie. Paintings of bloody alien-like creatures, life-like superhero figurines, and Victorian-era vests created for cosplay enthusiasts, fill Farn's heated garage in the southeast neighbourhood of Acadia.
This is hobby night for Farn, and eight other Calgarians.

Awesome Foundation - Calgary recognizes Shannon Hoover's idea for wearable technology fashion show
The central branch of the Calgary Public Library was filled with excited discussions about new projects on Nov. 22 during Thousand Dollar Thursday. The event hosted by the Awesome Foundation - Calgary gives away a $1,000 to individual who has pitched an idea to the foundation that is, to say the least, "awesome." A few dozen people arrived to listen to the pitches and to see who would be recognized for their awesome idea.

Spy City helps customers buy peace of mind

At first glance, it seems like a store for government conspirators and wannabe secret agents. But, according to its manager Terrence Lo, most of Spy City's customers are just looking to keep track of their lives with home security systems.
Fifty per cent are either looking for security items or walk into the store just to check out what items are sold. Thirty-three per cent come to the store after a life or death situation, such as having been robbed or severely threatened.

Stylists compete in front of enthusiastic crowd
Locks of hair were flying, dryers were blowing and jaws were dropping as Calgary played host to Hairapalooza Nov. 11.
The event – which took place at the Exchange Social Club – consisted of cutting, colouring and styling competitions, as well as models sporting the latest hairstyles of the season for the crowd to admire.
